GARY FILMON JOINS ARCTIC
GROUP BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Winnipeg, Manitoba - The Arctic Group Chairman and CEO, Robert
Nagy, announced today the appointment of Mr. Gary Filmon, the former
premier of Manitoba, to the company's Board of Directors.
Mr. Filmon has had a long and distinguished career in politics.
In 1979, Mr. Filmon was first elected to the Manitoba legislature
and in 1983, elected leader of the Manitoba Progressive Conservatives.
He is the longest-serving leader in Manitoba Progressive Conservative
history and served as premier of the province of Manitoba from 1988
to 1999.
"Mr. Filmon has developed a reputation as a fiscally responsible
manager and is one of the most respected public figures in Canada
today," said Robert Nagy, Chairman and CEO. "Mr. Filmon's
extensive contacts throughout Canada and in particular, the northern
United States will serve Arctic well as we continue our growth in
that market."
Arctic also announced today the acquisition of Geske's Ice of Fargo,
North Dakota. This transaction, along with the recent acquisition
of Stelley's Ice of Rochester, Tour Ice of Bismarck and Ron's Ice
of Minneapolis, completes the consolidation of Minnesota and North
and South Dakota. Total annualized revenue from these four acquisitions
is approximately $5 million.
According to Robert Nagy, "Geske's will open up the Grand
Forks market, one hour north of Fargo, which is not at this time
being serviced by a major ice company. Geske's is strategically
located between Arctic's plants in Marshall, Minnesota and Bismarck,
North Dakota."
